UTOPIA PDX provides sacred spaces for QTPIs (Queer and Trans Pacific Islanders) that can come from three areas of Oceania (Micronesia, Melanesia and Polynesia), which any particular Pacific Island (PI) nation can have a very specific immigration or migration relationship with the US. There are also currently 7 PI nations that still outlaw and criminalize same-sex relationships, whereby more than half of our members come from a few of these PI nations. We also collaborate in solidarity with other QTPoC (Queer and Trans People of Color) organizations like Portland Two Spirit Society, Sankofa Collective Northwest, and PDX Latinx Pride to name a few. We also have worked with Q Center and Pride Northwest. We also help sponsor APANO's (Asian Pacific Network of Oregon) ONYCS (Oregon Nesian Youth for Change in Society) program, PSU's (Portland State University) PISA (Pacific Islander Student Alliance) and PSU's QSoCC (Queer Student of Color Conference). We not serve our own specific QTPI community here in Portland and SW Washington but also in the communities we intersect - the greater LGBTQ+ and Pacific Islander communities.

Our new Visible project timelines span 12 weeks, so that you know your time commitment from the start.
