Organization mission statement:
OHCIA serves to increase the number and quality of Health Care Interpreters, as well as to provide workforce development and job opportunities for refugee, asylee and immigrant communities. The interpreters they train ensure patients with limited english proficiency get the same quality of health care as everyone else. This important organization is in desperate need of marketing strategy advice and implementation to recruit new interpreters.

Interpreters are the sole communication bridge between health care professionals and patients with limited english proficiency. Not only do interpreters understand the languages being spoken, but through OHCIA, have received training to be culturally sensitive, ethically conscious and able to explain medical terminology accurately. Their job exists to ensure patients with limited english proficiency get the same quality of health care as everyone else.
