Mother to Mother
Mother to Mother works to serve undocumented Hispanic women to educate and empower mothers and families in our local and nearby neighborhoods by providing professional English language programs and English conversation classes.
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Organization mission statement: To educate and empower mothers and families in our local and nearby neighborhoods by providing professional English language programs and English conversation classes. We create space for women of all backgrounds to come together and learn from one another and build relationships.
This organization or cause is a 501(c)3 non-profit: No
What groups or causes does your organization serve?: We serve undocumented Hispanic women who live in the Sunset Park/Bay Ridge neighborhoods of Brooklyn. We have partnered with an organization called Mixteca Organization who has served these communities and families since the 90's and largely works as a community center.
Project description: We meet on a bi-weekly basis with any mothers who are interested in improving their English language skills. We also invite their children to come so that stay at home moms can also come and be a part of the classes. We are also looking to expand our services to work more with families and individuals one to one. We are hoping to set up a family mentor program over the next few months that will pair families together to help with tutoring, immigration services, filling out forms, etc.
Project needs: new logo/brand design, website design, website development, brochure(s), promotional video, documentary/storytelling video
Project Timeline: ASAP
How will this creative work help you overcome challenges or meet specific goals?: Our main challenge is reaching families and women in the community. Many families have limited access to computers or struggle with the language barrier so it would be great to have some help creating a clear and available website. We would also love some more professional flyers/brochures to hand out as this is a big way to reach those without access to social media and websites.
