Bio: Joel a multi-disciplinary designer and artist that works at the intersection of design, planning, and community engagement to help build cities and communities that are more just, sustainable, and equitable for everyone. Using design as a collaborative approach, he works with groups to enable a shared understanding of complex socio-spatial relationships and strategies for action.
He has worked as a designer, researcher, project manager, content coordinator, and community development assistant at places such as The Urbanization Project at NYU, The J. Max Bond Center on Design for the Just City, Portland Development Commission, Cogan Owens Greene and DESIS Lab. He was a a founding member of the People’s Climate Arts collective, which is the recipient of the Rauschenberg Artist as Activist fellowship, and he has also received a Design Futures fellowship from Autodesk Foundation.
